Selective Service Registration

Today William and Papa went to the local military office so that William could register. All young men here in Brazil must sign up before they reach 17 1/2 years of age.  My little warrior is almost all gone up!  William will not have to serve in the Brazilian military since we live in a small interior town.  Only young men in big cities who are selected get the chance to actually enlist.  William has to go back next week to finish the process.  Nonetheless, it made this Mama think back just a little over the past 17 1/2 years…

We also registered today for the Brazilian college board exam called the ENEM.  We have to go and make the payment to finalize everything but it looks like William is all signed up for this big test that occurs in November.  The  Portuguese class that he has been taking in the big city is in preparation for the ENEM.

Our last day of school is set for June 20th.  Summer events will be upon us all too soon:  camps, summer missions teams, William’s big missions trip, and later our car trip to Southern Brazil.  Mama {me} made a big calendar of what’s coming up in June and posted it in the living room for all to see.  She {me} is still sure that no one will remember the dates for anything and that there will be lots of reminding going on!

Take care!
